Dear AGH Students, Residents of AGH Student Campus,

Following the decision of the Organizers of the European Games Kraków – Małopolska 2023, a large section of AGH University Campus has been delineated to become the site of Athletes’ Village. During the event athletes and members of their teams will find their accommodation here.

The European Games will be held from 21st June till 2nd July, but the Athletes’ Village will be in the process of organization from the very beginning of June, and its closure is planned for 5th July 2023.

Unavoidably, the presence of over 3 thousand Games participants in June and July will mean a number of inconveniences for the Residents of Student Campus. The timing of the European Games obliged the University authorities to introduce some changes to the timetable of the academic year, and consequently classes and lectures in class will be conducted till 4th June, which will be followed by a week-long break to prepare student dormitories for European Games participants.

Detailed information regarding the organisation of the academic year can be found here: https://www.agh.edu.pl/studenci/harmonogram-roku-akademickiego/

AGH students staying at AGH Student Campus must vacate their rooms by 7th June at the latest, with the exception of those students who have been granted permission to stay in their current dormitory (provided it is one of the five designated dormitories) for the duration of the European Games. Students of other universities as well as all other people not having the status of AGH student must check out from AGH Campus no later than by 31st May.

During the period when the AGH Student Campus functions as the Athletes’ Village, the following 5 dormitories have been designated to remain available to AGH students:
• DS3 Akropol
• DS7 Zaścianek
• DS8 Stokrotka
• DS14 Kapitol
• DS Alfa

Most places offered to AGH students are in basic standard (double rooms and 3-person rooms, with bunk beds, organized into 10-person units with shared bathroom facilities). Due to the limited availability of places in relation to the overall number of AGH students currently accommodated in dormitories, it is not possible to request single-occupancy in a dormitory room.

As the area of Athletes’ Village will be sealed off (including the whole length of ul. Rostafińskiego and ul. Budryka as well as part of ul. Tokarskiego from AGH Swimming Pool and the new Sports Hall), the only parking places available to the residents of the designated five dormitories will be the ones in the area of DS3 Akropol, DS18 Odyseja and DS19 Apollo.

Additionally, the Organizers of the European Games wish to inform about some restrictions in through traffic in the area surrounding the AGH Campus (among others closing the section of ul. Reymonta from the intersection with ul. Miechowska to ul. Piastowska, rendering all existing parking spaces unavailable in this area).

The area of Athletes’ Village will include, among others, student clubs, shops, service points and restaurants which are located in the dormitories accommodating Games participants, and will remain out-of-bounds to other people.
In view of the 2023 European Games special procedures for AGH students have been prepared to optimize functioning of the Student Campus in this period.
